Really shows you how much they care hmm? I even reported another player harassing me via her YouTube platform where she has a significant following but all Linden Labs did was tell me to reach out to YouTube. I’ve heard from people close to Linden Lab staff that they receive so many harassment/bullying reports that 90% of them get ignored entirely. Contacting support in any capacity is like pulling teeth. Sure, you can report bullying and harassment through their in-game reporting tool but it does absolutely nothing. Oh and speaking of safety… it is nonexistent. There is no regulation of these adult sims either, since everything is player created and run it is at the whims of whoever runs the sim if you’ll get any kind of genuine safety or assistance. They would rather allow borderline and even actual child porn (there is an article out there where a Linden Labs worker reported virtual CP on the platform and nothing was done about it) than keep players safe. Second Life does nothing about this even though it is extremely prevalent throughout the platform and does nothing about it because they care more about subscription fees than they do about player safety. A lot of users that do this love to claim this is because they participate in a kink known as DDLG aka ‘Daddy Dom x Little Girl’ where a father-like figure is dominant over a young woman in a sexual nature. The other huge trend I noticed particularly among female avatars was to look very child-like while working in explicitly adult oriented places. Even more casual outfits tend to have plunging necklines, bare midriffs, or the like. Many of the ‘sims’ where you can shop offer clothes that are little more than fancy lingerie or would suit working at a strip club rather than walking down the street. I had maybe one or two genuine friends in my SL time but the majority are toxic and rude. The user-base of Second Life is primarily adults and the behavior favors drama and toxicity above all. Don’t let the 200,000+ player-base fool you either - majority of those are bot accounts that just stand around and spam for virtual currency. Barely any other sims aka virtual spaces are active or even have players. 99% of the game is dedicated to sex, strip clubs, fetish dungeons and the like and it is all too easy to stumble into them since a lot of these places often have cute or innocent sounding names that can easily fool people. As someone who was active on Second Life for a few years, I can safely say that this game is NOT for children in any sense of the word, or for anyone for that matter.
